We also asked Pilic if he thinks Bikic bros have any influence on
Dokic.

After three mon th's
break, former world number 4, Jelena Dokic has started her recurrence on
the tennis court with a victory. Dokic, 1st seeded in Ismaning (10km away
from Munich) who received wild card into the qualifying event, upset
Mika Urbancic (#1458) 3:6, 6:2, 1:0 in the second
round when Slovenian player retired due to a wrist injury in the third
set. Urbancic has also played first round of qualifying today, when she
demolished Katerina Mazackova of the Czech Republic 6:0, 6:0. Dokic was
bye on the start.
Jelena was playing very bad in the first set, but she has started to turn
things around once her opponent hurt her wrist in the middle of the second
set.
After her first match (Jelena's last appearance was in Germany in
Darmstadt at the end of August) Dokic gave a short interview.
"In the beginning, I was a bit nervous today,"
Dokic said, who has been preparing herself in the tennis academy
of Nikola Pilic. It was her first match after a
long injury timeout. "In the second set it was
already going better."

It has been announced that Jelena Dokic has
received a qualifying wild card into the ITF Büschl Open. The Büschl Open
is a 10.000 $ event in the ITF circuit.
The Büschl Open starts next Monday, qualifying begins on Sunday. As of
now, the qualifying draw has not been revealed but it will be interesting
to see how Jelena will do in this event.
Based on talent alone, Jelena should win this whole tournament easily.
However, we don't know what shape or condition she is in and she has just
started training in earnest 3 weeks ago.
Hopefully this will be a stepping stone for Jelena to relaunch her career.
Good luck!

Dokic for The Sun-Herald:
Jelena isn't penniless or getting married
Published: 05.11.2006. (Herald
Sun)
DAMIR Dokic has huffed, puffed and blown down rumours that his
tennis-playing daughter Jelena is getting married or has been been left
"desperate and penniless" by her Croatian boyfriend Tin Bikic.
The maddest tennis dad of them all says the world No.615 is training at a
camp in Germany before her likely return to Australia to compete this
summer. He's also still keen to appear on Dancing With The Stars.
"No, no marriage, I know this," Damir told The Sun-Herald from his home in
Serbia.
"She is not getting married. She is playing tennis in Germany and wants to
go back to Australia to play.
"She hopes for wildcards in Australia. She wants to be in the Australian
Open. She will try to qualify if she has to.
"She has been injured but she is not giving up and she is not going to be
a wife. She wants to be successful again in her tennis and she will be."
Jelena, the Belgrade-born product of the Australian tennis system who
reached the world No.4 ranking before fleeing the country after a
supposedly rigged Australian Open draw in 2001, qualified for the 2006
event in Melbourne through the wildcard play-off system.
Damir said he and his previously estranged daughter "were speaking
again". He was sketchy about the details but his 23-year-old daughter is
known to be working with Martin Ruthner at an academy run by noted
Croatian coach and former player Niki Pilic in Oberschleissheim, near
Munich.
Contrasting reports last week suggested she was either planning to marry
Bikic or had split from him and been left "desperate and penniless".
Devoid of major sponsors and the kind of prizemoney she used to take for
granted, Dokic will have to dip into her own pocket if she ventures to
Australia.
Unlike last year, when flights and accommodation were taken care of, a
change in Tennis Australia policy means achievements will be rewarded
instead of participation.
"She is not poor," Damir said. "But she is not rich."
Dokic won the Australian Open wildcard play-off last December, the first
player to have done so while wearing tracksuit pants.
She lost in the first round to France's Virginie Razzano and a seemingly
imminent career resurrection had gone up in smoke.
Since failing to qualify for Wimbledon in June, she's played only one
satellite event, at Darmstadt in Germany, where she reached the
quarter-finals.
Damir was approached by Channel Seven last year to appear on Dancing With
The Stars.
He was offered a place to live in Melbourne and the use of a car
throughout filming of the show.
He was eager to participate but negotiations fell apart. He wouldn't mind
starting them again. "I dance good," he said. "Very good."
The Age:
Dokic may miss wildcard play-off
Published: 31.10.2006. (The Age)
JELENA Dokic's troubled search for a career
resurrection has led her to a coaching academy in Germany, but may not
include a return to next month's Australian Open wildcard play-off at
Melbourne Park, the scene of her homecoming last December.
Dokic
has told Tennis Australia's director of player development, Craig Tiley,
that she has only recently resumed from injury, so may not be back in
Australia before the offici al start of the summer circuit in January. Tiley confirmed that Dokic had also inquired about the possibility of
wildcards into local events.
"I told
her the normal stuff, that we have the training camp play-off and then
we'll probably have additional play-offs during the month of January, so
if someone does well in the Hobart event, for example, they would be
considered," Tiley said.
"She's
indicated she wants to come back for the summer, but because she's
starting late she's undecided whether she's going to come back at the end
of the year for the play-off or come back in January and try to play her
way through some of those events. It's 50-50, I think, right now."
The
struggling 23-year-old, now ranked 617th, is apparently training with
Martin Ruthner at the academy run by noted Croatian coach and former
player Niki Pilic in Oberschlessheim, near Munich, amid wildly contrasting
reports suggesting she is either planning to marry her Croatian boyfriend,
Tin Bikic, or has split from him and been left desperate and penniless.
After
winning the wildcard play-off last December and reuniting briefly with
former coach Lesley Bowrey, the one-time No. 4 lost in the first round in
Auckland, withdrew injured from the Canberra International, then was
eliminated in the Open's first round by France's Virginie Razzano.
Since
failing to qualify for Wimbledon in June, Dokic's tournament play has been
limited to one satellite event, at Darmstadt in Germany, where she reached
the quarter-finals.
"Jelena
has been injured and out and has come back the last two months with more
of a commitment," Tiley said. "She's working at an academy in Germany and
says she is training hard every day and she's healthy now and making
strides in the rankings."
If Dokic
does play off for a wildcard, there will be no Tennis Australia assistance
with flights or accommodation, that system having been replaced with one
that rewards achievement over participation.
While
negotiations are continuing with Pat Rafter over his role in developing
Australian tennis, Tiley also said he had had discussions with Glynn
Hewitt, acting for his son Lleyton after the dismissal of agent Rob
Aivatoglou, over his Davis Cup availability.
Court
resurfacing at Melbourne Park is expected to start in a fortnight. Tiley
said that would allow the Rebound Ace to have reached its peak speed, and
be consistently rated medium to fast, by the time the Open starts on
January 15.

Dokic: "Jelena, I'm with
you!"
Published: 29.10.2006. (Kurir)
Damir Dokic, Jelena's father believes that's a good thing his
daughter began training with Nikola Pilic, but remembered that's true what
he was talking in last three years. Exclusive for Kurir Damir Dokic
revealed that Croatian adventurers Borna and Tin Bikic sacked Jelena for
more then four milion dollars and she is now trying
to return at the top by Nikola Pilic. Like a father, he wishes her best of
luck.
- Jelena was being systematically destroying. Unfortunately, it was proven
I was right. They presented me like a maniac, but my story was confirmed
by Nikola Pilic. My Jelena left without an euro in her pocket, because those
thiefs destroyed her. I've found out they have stolen Jelena's four
million dollars, and she left without almost all of her property - told
Damir Dokic and continued:
- There is culpability of herself also. She didn't want to hear me, she
heard other people who want to extract any utility from herself. They
recommended her to take her money and leave "crazy" father. Unfortunately,
they managed to detached ourselves and look where she is now. My child is
almost finished outside.
What do you think about cooperation between Jelena and Nikola Pilic?
I know Nikola Pilic very long time and his wife Mirjana, who is from Novi
Sad. They are wonderful people and I hope they will succeed to return
Jelena on right track, if not on professional then on life track. Jelena
has to practice very, very much now. She will need much luck. When she was
training with me, their sparing partners was men, and I know Pilic is
doing similiar.
Will you try to contact Pilic family?
- I would like they called me when Jelena arrived at their tennis academy.
I don't want they decipher me wrong. Let Jelena works with Nikola and come
back! Maybe it would be good that Nikola and me contact each other, to
communte our opinions, I would have to tell him many helpful things.
What do you think, where would Jelena need to live?
- Jelena has to leave Croatia forever in order to be far from Bikics. It
would be good for her to stay in Germany. It is a legal country, she will
have great protection there. I hope Nikola is going to help her because
he's very important in Germany. I hope she will return on tennis track
like Jennifer Capriati, Martina Hingis and Mary Pierce - said Damir Dokic
clearly.
Does Jelena have your support like her father?
- Of course! I would not like from Jelena to be angry on me. She is my
daughter and she will be it forever. I haven't heard Jelena more then one
year, and it's very painful for me. She has father's support, fell free to
write it - finished Damir Dokic. |
